R & P Post 19: My influences and vision for the project

Our influences and vision for the project have been represented in our Steal-o-matic: a visual, moving image 'pitch' of the ideas which we aim to include in our music video. It is composed of a series of clips and shots taken mainly from current music videos, and was constructed in order to create a representation in moving video form of our vision and ideas for the project.

Below is our group's Steal-o-matic:

We aimed to roughly represent a balance between the amount of performance shots and how much of our narrative storyline we included, and also provide a rough representation of potentially how fast the editing of our actual video would be.

The various tracks and clips which we used for the Steal-o-matic are listed below:

Part of our Premiere Pro workspace, showing our
numerous different music videos that we used to
construct the Steal-o-matic.
Some of the feedback we received from our teachers was:
-Good cutting to the beat between different shots
-The narrative and performance sections are clear, and there was a good mix of both
-Good variety of shots: CUs are important & appropriate, especially if it's a beauty shot.

-We need to focus on how we will achieve and present the conceptual narrative
-Perhaps use different lighting & props to distinguish particular setups

I feel that the Steal-o-matic was extremely useful in presenting our influences and vision for the project. As we had not thought about any live-action aspects, such as editing and camera movement, it was important to use it to gauge how our video could potentially appear, and to use it as a reminder to incorporate camera movement into our plans. Despite perhaps too many of our shots aiming to match the lyrics of the track, I feel like we achieved a good, flowing foundation for our music video.
